With January just a few days away, the weather is only getting colder. And this can play havoc with your windscreen. But perhaps the most irritating thing about the weather, is the daily battle with clearing the windscreen. Not only does it add time onto your morning routine, and throw everything out of sync, if you don’t clear your windscreen carefully, you risk damaging it. Here at Red Rose Windscreens in Preston, we are windscreen experts. As a result, we have produced this guide to help you clear your windscreen easily this winter.
How to clear your windscreen easily this winter:
- Turn on your air conditioning- make sure to start your air conditioning on a colder setting, and increase the temperature gradually, to avoid any large changes in temperature. You should also be sure to direct the warm air towards the windscreen. This will help clear mist on the interior of the windscreen, which is caused by condensation, and it can also help to melt exterior frost gently.
- Drive on your own driveway- If your mist is still lingering and you really cant wait, you can start the engine and drive on your own driveway with the windows down. The simple forwards and backwards motion will circulate air, and the cold air from outside will help to get rid of the mist. However, you should never drive on the road with a misted windscreen. It is dangerous and also illegal.
- Use de-icer- This might seem obvious but dont be tempted to pour water from the kettle. Instead use de-icer if your windscreen is frosted and icy.
- If your system has an option to de-mist the windscreen – use it! This will automatically adjust the ventilation system so you can get the best results!
